A’Salfo TRAORE

Salif Traoré, plus connu sous son nom d’artiste A’Salfo, est né le 15 mars 1979 à Abidjan en Côte d’Ivoire. Il a été nommé Ambassadeur de bonne volonté de l’UNESCO en septembre 2012.

Dans les années 1990, il fait ses débuts dans la musique en créant le groupe Fabio Choc. Leurs chansons sont inspirées du zouglou, un genre musical inventé par les étudiants abidjanais révoltés par la crise économique qui sévit dans le pays. Le zouglou est alors le mode d’expression de la jeunesse ivoirienne pour exorciser son désespoir.

En 1997, A’Salfo rejoint le groupe Magic System dont il devient le leader vocal et le parolier de la quasi-totalité des titres. Les quatre magiciens se produisent essentiellement lors de fêtes et d’événements locaux jusqu’à ce que leur succès devienne planétaire en 2000. Leurs tournées vont des Etats-Unis au Japon, en passant par la France, la Grande-Bretagne et la Chine.
Mettant sa renommée internationale au profit de nobles causes, A’Salfo a créé le Festival des Musiques Urbaines d’Anoumabo (FEMUA). L’évènement se déroule en Côte d’Ivoire, sur une période de trois jours et rassemble des artistes internationaux qui se mobilisent pour procurer de la joie aux plus démunis.

A’Salfo a également initié de nombreuses actions sociales en Côte d’Ivoire, en Afrique et dans le monde. Dans l’album Touté Kalé, il a composé la chanson « l’eau va manquer » pour sensibiliser au changement climatique provoqué par l’homme.

L’engagement d’A’Salfo a été de nombreuses fois récompensé. En 2001, il est fait Chevalier de l’ordre du Mérite ivoirien, puis Officier en 2007. Il a également été nommé Ambassadeur culturel pour la réconciliation en Côte d’Ivoire par le Président S.E.M. Ouattara pour avoir encouragé le retour au pays de journalistes et d’artistes exilés.

Le 9 septembre 2013, à l’occasion de la journée internationale de l’alphabétisation, A’Salfo a lancé la chanson « Savoir ». Composée spécialement pour l’UNESCO, il s’agit d’une chanson collégiale qui réunit une dizaine d’artistes africains et dont les fonds seront intégralement reversés à l’Organisation pour soutenir ses projets dans le domaine de l’alphabétisation.

Salif Traoré, better known by his name A'Salfo artist, was born March 15, 1979 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. He was appointed Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO in September 2012.

In the 1990s, he made his debut in the music by creating Fabio Shock group. Their songs are inspired zouglou, a genre invented by the Abidjan students revolted by the economic crisis in the country. Zouglou then the mode of expression of the Ivorian youth to exorcise her despair.

In 1997 A'Salfo joined the group Magic System which he became the lead singer and lyricist of almost all titles. The four magicians occur mainly at parties and local events until their successes become global in 2000. Their tour will of the United States to Japan, passing through France, Britain and China.

Putting his international fame to benefit worthy causes, A'Salfo created the Urban Music Festival Anoumabo (FEMUA). The event takes place in Côte d'Ivoire, on a three-day period and brings together international artists who are mobilizing to bring joy to the poor.

A'Salfo also initiated numerous social activities in Ivory Coast, Africa and the world. In the album Touté Kale, he composed the song "Water will miss" to raise awareness of climate change caused by man.

The commitment to A'Salfo was many times rewarded. By 2001 it is a Knight of the Order of the Ivorian Merit and Officer as of 2007. It has also been named Cultural Ambassador for reconciliation in Côte d'Ivoire by President HE Mr. Ouattara for encouraging the return to the land of journalists and exiled artists.

On 9 September 2013, on the occasion of International Literacy Day, A'Salfo launched the song "Know". Composed especially for UNESCO, this is a college song that unites a dozen African artists and the funds will be donated to the organization to support its projects in the field of literacy.
